Crush List

5 Things I'm Crushing On Today!

5.12.15

The shopping bug has struck again and it's not pretty. Maybe it's the warm weather, maybe it is the fact that sadly, most everything in my closet is from last year. Who knows... But I am trying to be really good about my spending habits lately....haha. But seriously, I am trying!

Here is a small round up of some really awesome goodies I want right this second! Maybe by sharing them here it will help take away some of the itch...

1. Toms Ink Blue Mesh Canvas Classic. All summer wear with just about anything fabulous.. and that color! eek. Also, who doesn't love Toms mission? It feels nice supporting companies who give back.

Get them here..get a pair for me too! :)

2. Easy breezy dresses are my summer go to and there is just something I love about a dress with pockets. This one from Anthropologie is too adorable.

3. Okay can West Elm designers please come redecorate my entire house? I adore how they feature handmade artisans and fair trade products. This fair trade rug from India needs to be in my bedroom like yesterday! Sooo in love!

4.Let's face it I spend a whole lot of time in the kitchen. My dishwasher runs at least once a day. Growing boys like to eat..A TON! These cute little towels from Anthropologie are maybe not a necessity but they sure would make dish time a little more pleasant.

5. Last, but certainly not least. This girl needs to get busy making that dress I talked about in a previous blog post. I have gone an entirely different direction with my fabric choice and I need to order up approximately 2.5 yards ASAP and get busy! This Leah Duncan fabric from her Morning Walk Collection has won my heart. I think it will make a fabulous easy breezy summer staple to add to my wardrobe.

Alrighty friends that sums up my wish list for this week! Hope you enjoyed drooling along with me. And of course if I happen to get any of these items I'll be sure to post my joy with y'all. Happy shopping!

xo,
Bree

So...I'm going to make a dress

I love making handbags. I love making headbands. I love making pretty little things for your home. But it is time to branch out and this mama is making a dress! Well, I am going to attempt to make a dress.

But first, I need your help! I have decided on a super lovely pattern by April Rhodes. If you are not familiar with her and her awesome fabric designs and patterns you need to be, like now! You can link to her website here

As soon as I saw her date night dress I was in love. I knew it was the one. And it didn't hurt that it says it's suitable for beginner sewers..wink wink..I am so in!

So now the best part...choosing a fabric!! I have it narrowed down to three and the indecisive Libra in me is having a tough time. Let me know what y'all think in the comments below! I would LOVE some feedback. Thanks in advance and stay tuned...

Food Love

This banana bread is out of this world AMAZING! When my Granny passed away I inherited her recipe box. Oh what a joy! This lady could cook like you would not believe. Real homemade, everything from scratch, fill your belly up with deliciousness. As soon as I smell this banana bread baking I am instantly feeling age 10 again, hanging out with my Granny while she simultaneously is baking something awesome and sewing up something fantastic. She was a one of kind!

My kids LOVE this and if I let them they can polish off a loaf in no time! It is super easy to make and is a great after school snack. If you are anything like me you buy bananas, and then a week later they are slowly becoming a science project on your counter. Some weeks if I am short on time and baking is not an option they go in the freezer for smoothies. But honestly if you have an extra 10 minutes whip this up, its worth it!

Granny's "Bannana" Bread

1.5 cups of sugar
Her recipe is 2/3 cup of crisco! eek. I sub one stick of butter
2 eggs (cream together)
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup ripe mashed bananas
MIX WELL
ADD
1 tsp baking soda
5 tablespoons sour milk
(*sour milk I make first thing and set aside. To sour your milk add a touch of lemon juice or vinegar.)
MIX WELL
ADD
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp of salt
MIX WELL

Bake at 350 in a well greased loaf pan for about an hour.

NOTE: I usually set my timer for 50 minutes and start checking the bread every few minutes until my toothpick or knife comes out clean. I also split the batter between 2 smaller sized loaf pans, it seems to cook better that way in my opinion and in less time.

Welcome! :)

Eeek, ack, butterflies in my belly...first blog post jitters is what I will call it. I now have this super awesome blog design (thank you Life Made Lovely) but now I actually have to write...say wha....?? I have been going around and around with my thoughts the last several days and I finally decided I have to just go for it, right?!

So here it goes...I am Bree, mama to 3 wild, sweet, and funny boys. Ryder is 8, Wyatt is 6, and Quinn is 3. They keep me hopping, cooking, cleaning, and some days running for the hills! I have decided I will not be sane until they are in college, ehhh, probably never again. But that's okay I would not have it any other way.

You might be wondering what all this be about...I am guessing, knowing myself, most days I will be posting from the car waiting for my kids to get off the bus, during naptime (aka BLISS), in line at Whole Foods, the possibilities are endless..but I will try to keep it light, entertaining, and fun. I will share bits of our sometimes (okay all the time) crazy life, awesome DIY crafts to keep you busy on snowy days or those few joyful hours at night after all the kiddos are in bed. I will share recipe ideas that I think you'll love or that will make your life easier. I will also share all the fun that is going on trying to grow my little shop. If you are trying to grow a handmade business I would LOVE to chat. Maybe we can help each other?!

I am sure overtime this blog will take its shape but while it is going through its growing pains I hope you stick around. I always welcome your comments and suggestions and email me anytime.

5 random truths about me:

1. I am a sucker for The Bachelor. The night Quinn was born was The Bachelor finale (you know the one with Ben and Courtney) I was worried we wouldn't make it to the recovery room fast enough to watch it. #thirdbornproblems. Sorry Quinny, Mommy loves you.
2. I am a recovering struggling hypochondriac...0 to 60 worst case scenario in seconds flat.
3. I am a big time procrastinator and convince myself I do much better under pressure.
4. I always said I would have one child and it would be a girl. Big LOL on that one!
5. I have been engaged for 9 years to the father of my 3 beautiful boys. I like to think of us as Kurt and Goldie. Hee hee, sounds glamorous.
